Julian Heynen

Roman Ondák—A “Painter of Modern Life”

Julian Heynen has been following Roman Ondák’s artistic development for years. One highlight was this year’s exhibition “In Reichweite von Hand und Auge” (In Hand’s and Eye’s Reach), which opened in February at the Ständehaus der Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen. In his lecture, the curator and author speaks about Ondák’s work.

Dr. Julian Heynen is artistic director for special tasks at the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen in Düsseldorf. In 2003 and 2005, Julian Heynen was commissioner of the German Pavilion at the 50th and 51st Venice Biennale, and in 2008 co-curator of the Shanghai Biennial.

Performance of Michael Maierhof’s composition for 6 players with motors on readymades with SUONO MOBILE global (Stuttgart)

The Hamburg-based composer Michael Maierhof, former fellow of the Villa Aurora, created the composition specific objects, 17 min. during his residency in Los Angeles, inspired by the sounds of helicopters and airplanes. It will be performed by six musicians and a conductor scattered throughout the exhibition space.
Following the final performance will be a discussion between Michael Maierhof and Carolin Naujocks, Deutschlandradio Kultur, based on the theme On airplanes, Cage, music, and world reference.
