As cooperation between Deutsche Bank and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, the Deutsche Guggenheim has been an epitome of change in the museum landscape since 1997. During the Long Night of the Museums, a variety of insights will be given into this unique joint venture.

What the Hell was Abstract?
In 1907 the art historian Wilhelm Worringer wrote his seminal dissertation Abstraktion und Einfühlung [Abstraction and Empathy] that has often been interpreted as the theoretical foundation par excellence of Expressionism and abstraction. In his lecture, Prof. Dr. Böhringer of the Institute of Art Studies at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig undertakes a reappraisal.

The Fiftieth Anniversary of the Guggenheim Museum
The internationally renowned architecture office GRAFT, known for its extraordinary approaches and organizational forms, outlines Frank Lloyd Wright and his importance to today’s architecture. Afterwards, the documentary film Art, Architecture, and Innovation – Celebrating the Guggenheim Museum will be screened, which was shot on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Wright’s legendary museum building.
