Events for children, youth and families
Dear young art lovers!
Your visions of the future were already at the fore of the workshops accompanying the exhibition of Julie Mehretu. While we then thought about the cities of the future, now, on the occasion of the current show “Utopia Matters”, we ask you what our life will be like 50 years from now. Today, more than 6.5 billion people are living on earth – will this number double by 2060? Will we all grow older, live healthier and happier? How will we dress and what kind of cars will we drive? Many adults talk about our responsibility for the future – what does this mean? We want to learn more about your wishes for the future and are looking forward to your ideas!

At times, little ideas by great minds make our life easier and nicer. The car, TV or Velcro fastener are inventions we no longer want to do without nowadays. We want your opinion: What has not yet been invented that would improve your life? Accompanying this exhibition, you can come up with your own ideas, and afterwards organize an exhibition to show your inventions to your family and friends. Like real inventors, you will receive a certificate, and to protect your ideas against copycats, you can later on post your inventions on the Website of the children’s patent office.
Costs:
children 5 €
children and school groups 3 € per person
families 10 €

Future Fashion Victims
Workshop for youths from the age of 10, in cooperation with Karin Leiberg, Journalist and Fashion Consultant, and Galeries Lafayette
Part 1: Friday, 05.03.2010, 4-6 pm
Part 2: Saturday, 06.03.2010, 11 am-3 pm
Part 3: Sunday, 07.03.2010, 11 am-3 pm, 2:30 fashion show
When Coco Chanel freed women from their corsets in the early 20th century, it amounted to a revolution – the future of fashion was suddenly conceived in an entirely new way. At the beginning of the 21st century, we ask you, what fashion will look like 50 years from now. Will sensors in our clothes regulate our body temperature or be able to download our favorite series? How and where will we go shopping, when, already today, designers offer their new collections in the virtual world of secondlife.com, from which sneakers can be purchased using Lindendollars as payment and then be delivered home in real life? Do you think that the future of shopping lies solely in the Internet? We want to consider these questions together with fashion expert Karin Leiberg and Galeries Lafayette. But above all you can develop your own ideas and design your own fashion for the future. Following a photo shooting, you will be given the opportunity to present your collection in a fashion show.
Overall costs: 15 euros
